In the ever-evolving world of K-pop, ITZY has emerged as resilient. Debuting under JYP Entertainment in 2019, they quickly captivated audiences with their fierce choreography, empowering themes, and energetic performances. While many groups from their debut era have since disbanded, ITZY’s continuous comebacks and expanding global fanbase stand as a testament to their talent and teamwork.

As fans celebrate ITZY’s presence, they also reflect on the journeys of other girl groups that have concluded their chapters. Let’s break down the journeys of five girl groups that debuted in 2019 but have disbanded:

5. HighSchool

Debut: April 30, 2019.

First Single: “Baby You’re Mine.”

Disbandment: December 3, 2020 (tentative date).

HighSchool, under Richworld Entertainment, debuted with a unique concept: members wore masks to emphasize talent over visuals. Their debut track, “Baby You’re Mine,” showcased their musical abilities. The group seemingly disbanded in late 2020, after posting a message on their Instagram page that implied their split.

4. 3YE

Debut: May 21, 2019.

First Single: “DMT (Do Ma Thang).”

Disbandment: November 14, 2024.

Formed by GH Entertainment, 3YE was known for their powerful performances and unique style. Their debut track “DMT” showcased their potential, and they continued to release music that resonated with fans. The group announced their disbandment in November 2024, marking the end of their five-year journey.

3. Rocket Punch

Debut: August 7, 2019.

First Single: “BIM BAM BUM.”

Disbandment: December 27, 2024.

Rocket Punch, under Woollim Entertainment, burst onto the scene with their catchy debut track “BIM BAM BUM.” Over the years, they released several mini-albums and singles, building a dedicated fanbase. Member Juri exited the group in May 2024. Subsequently, Yeon Hee, Yun Kyoung, So Hee, and Da Hyun announced that they and Woollim agreed to terminate their contracts on December 31, 2024.

2. EVERGLOW

Debut: March 18, 2019.

First Single: “Bon Bon Chocolat.”

Disbandment: May 13, 2025.

EVERGLOW, managed by Yuehua Entertainment, quickly gained attention with their debut track “Bon Bon Chocolat.” Their powerful performances and international appeal set them apart. However, after six years, it was announced that the group’s contract with Yueha would not be renewed. However, the members have said they are looking for a new agency on social media.

1. Cherry Bullet

Debut: January 21, 2019.

First Single: “Q&A.”

Disbandment: April 22, 2024.

Cherry Bullet, under FNC Entertainment, debuted with the vibrant track “Q&A.” Despite lineup changes and challenges, they continued to release music that resonated with fans. On April 22, 2024, the group officially disbanded after several members terminated their contracts.

The disbandment of these groups shows the competitive nature of the K-pop industry. While fans grieve the loss of these talented artists, they also celebrate the enduring success of groups like ITZY.
