The BTS band received an appointment and diplomatic passports by South Korea to attend the UN and promote the goals of the body.

While k-pop is a form of “soft power” for South Korea, that is, it allows it to improve its image around the world; BTS is the first group to receive a formal diplomatic appointment, being a special presidential envoy for future generations and culture at the UN.

During the past week, President Moon Jae-In, granted them the title, diplomatic passports and their first mission, which was to accompany him to the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The seven members of the group appeared in the Assembly to promote the UN goals for 2030, including the end of extreme poverty, the preservation of the planet and gender equality, they also said that they are fully vaccinated and spoke about the pandemic.

In the sense that adolescents and those over 20 years of age call them “the lost generation of COVID-19 because they have lost their way, but they considered that a more appropriate name is the“ welcome generation ”because instead of fearing change , this generation says “welcome” and moves on.

The speech marked the group’s second appearance at the UN, as in 2018 they discussed their work with UNICEF.
