B.I, a former member of the K-Pop group iKON, had his sentence announced this Friday, September 10th, after involvement in a drug scandal. According to the South Korean court, the artist must serve 4 years of probation, 80 hours of community service, 40 hours of a course on drug treatment and payment of a fine of 1.5 million won.
As reported by the Soompi website, in late August the prosecutor in the case issued a 3-year prison order for B.I, which was indicted in May this year on suspicion of buying and using marijuana and LSD in 2016. At the first hearing, the artist declared:
“I admit to all these accusations and am self-reflective“.
He also submitted an apology letter. The court, however, stated that what B.I did “cannot be considered a crime that occurred out of simple curiosity” If he fails to serve the prescribed sentence or commits any other offense during those 4 years of probation, he will face 3 years in prison.
