Based on the results of a poll conducted as part of Newsweek by Redfield & Wilton asking United States citizens whether they would support King Charles III’s abdication to the U.K. throne, it was confirmed that the vast majority are in favor of this early retirement.
Fifty-one percent (51%) of the adults surveyed were in favor of the abdication of the current U.K. monarch, Charles III, in case his health condition worsens, as he revealed earlier in February that he had been diagnosed with cancer, which worried a large part of the population.
In case King Charles III is unable to perform his functions as monarch, his eldest son, Prince William, would be the direct successor, so he would have to assume the role of King of England, accompanied by his wife Kate Middleton, who would become the Queen Consort, a decision with which the Americans seem to agree.
However, the 75-year-old head of state, who was discovered at an early stage of his cancer treatment, began his treatment quickly, and although he had to put his royal duties on hold at first, on February 21st, he resumed his public activities and met with the British Prime Minister.
