THE BOYZ member Kevin Moon is preparing for his solo debut while opening up about his experiences and thoughts on the KPop industry. Following the group’s departure from their former agency and continuation as a nine-member act, Kevin has focused on individual projects. He recently explained that his upcoming music will reflect his frustration with parts of the industry and his desire to create something authentic. He said the project represents the message he genuinely wants to share. Kevin said music should be authentic and explained that difficult experiences helped shape his new project.
“Music is so subjective but to me the only objective take I have is that it should be authentic,” he said on his X account.
He also criticized the South Korean industry culture, where artists may feel pressured to censor themselves or be extremely careful about what they say. He said he believes artists should not have to “walk on eggshells” and suggested that many parts of K-pop have been built around that idea. “I feel that 99% of the industry has been built on eggshells, ” he expressed. The artist also discussed cultural appropriation, an issue that has sparked controversy among international KPop fans, especially among black and queer communities.

Kevin’s comments have made fans curious about his solo release, especially after he warned that it would “push some buttons.” The project appears designed to show more of his personal views and artistic identity. As THE BOYZ continues with nine members, Kevin will release Freechild on September 2, 2026, as an independent project with no label support.
