Soccer player Jorginho has now described the recent incident involving Chappell Roan in Brazil as a misunderstanding. In a new Instagram Story posted the week of April 13, 2026, he said he had learned new information that changed his understanding of what happened at a hotel restaurant during Lollapalooza Brazil. The soccer player had previously suggested that Chappell Roan send her security guard to confront his wife and stepdaughter after the child recognized the singer. He took back his statement now, saying that the “Pink Pony Club” hitmaker had no knowledge of the interaction and did not ask anyone to approach his family.
“I made my initial statement in the heat of the moment, after hearing that my child and wife had been approached by an adult male security guard in an intimidating way. At the time, we acted on the information that was available to us.”

The original complaint caused strong public backlash
The controversy began after Jorginho claimed that a security guard approached his 11-year-old stepdaughter and her mother at breakfast and accused them of disrespectful and threatening behavior. He said the moment left his daughter extremely shaken, which sparked an online criticism wave against Chappel Roan. The backlash grew so quickly that Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere even said on X that the singer was banned from performing at Todo Mundo no Rio while he remained in office.

Jorginho closes the matter with Chappel Roan
Following the backlash, the arist responded on Instagram and said she did not see the woman or child and never asked any guard to confront them. Then, Security guard Pascal Duvier also released a statement taking full responsibility and explaining that he was not part of Chappell Roan’s team. Jorginho said that the artist also reached out privately to his wife and was sympathetic about what happened. He admitted the incident was misunderstood and said he regrets the impact it had on both families. The soccer star now says that the issue is closed. .
“It became clear that she had no knowledge of what took place at breakfast and had not asked anyone to approach them. She was understanding and sympathetic to what had happened with our child.”
