Miley Cyrus has confirmed that her former Disney peer, Selena Gomez, will make an appearance in the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special. Speaking to Variety, the “Party in the USA” singer said that podcast host Alex Cooper helped make the appearance happen after talking with fans about what they wanted to see in the special. Then, Miley revealed she has a lot of love for Selena and admitted she did not fully realize how meaningful their friendship was to the fans until more recently.

“I love Selena, but I didn’t know how much our friendship meant to the fans,” Miley said to Variety, confirming the fellow Disney kid’s participation.

Selena Gomez first appeared on Hannah Montana in 2007 as Mikayla, a pop star who had a rivalry with Hannah Montana. That guest role became memorable for many viewers, especially those who grew up watching both pop stars during their prime Disney Channel years as teen idols. Now, Miley Cyrus’s new comments suggest that the anniversary special will not only celebrate the show itself, but also the other actors around it.

Also, the conversation about this appearance brought attention back to old rumors that Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez once had personal problems with each other. Miley has never publicly mentioned any feud speculation between the pair. However, Selena addressed these rumor in an interview with W in 2016 and said they never truly feuded. She explained that they liked the same boy as teenagers, namely Nick Jonas, and that the situation was turned into gossip.

“We never feuded. We both liked the same guy when we were 16. It was just a Hilary Duff-Lindsay Lohan thing: ‘Oh, my God, we like the same boy!’ We are now completely settled in our own lives.”
