Hailey Bieber is once again setting the record straight about the long-standing rumors of a beef between her and Selena Gomez. On October 14th, 2025, WSJ. Magazine Innovators Issue published their interview with the Rhode Beauty founder, in which she expressed frustration over the way the media continues to pit them against each other. “It’s always annoying being pitted against other people. I didn’t ask for that.” She then emphasized that many of the rumors surrounding her and Selena Gomez have been ignited by outsiders.

The interview came just hours before Rhode officially launched at Sephora, where Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty line is also sold. Despite that, Hailey Bieber clarified that whatever idea people have of her in their minds is not her responsibility: “When people want to see you a certain way and they’ve made up a story about you in their minds, it’s not up to you to change that.”
And while the women met Justin Bieber as teens, their current love lives have evolved: Selena Gomez married producer Benny Blanco on September 27th, 2025, and Hailey tied the knot with Justin Bieber in 2018. However, their romantic histories have been a focus of media speculation for years, with Hailey herself tweeting support for “#Jelena” back in 2011 before eventually falling in love with Justin years later.
