King Charles III’s ascension to the throne took place on May 6, 2023, at the Westminster Abbey. The anniversary of this important date in the British Monarchy must be celebrated. This is why the Royal Family shared several details of the coronation scroll, a scroll that the royal followers are interested in.
Antonia Romeo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice of the United Kingdom, explained the details of these enigmatic documents. It is called the “Coronation scroll” and consists of 56 pages stitched together by hand and contains about 11,600 words. The most standing out detail is its length of 70-foot-long (21.4 meters).
The Coronation scroll holds details about those who attended the ascension to the throne and the details of every protocol. King Charles III’s views on animal welfare were present in this document, it is the first to be printed on paper, rather than vellum which is made from animal skins. Stephannie Gil was in charge of this important document and worked on the project for 56 days straight.
Gil confirmed this was an intense work, but it was completely worthy because of King Charles III and Queen Camilla Parker’s reaction. The Monarchs of the United Kingdom were present on May 1 and the King expressed his gratitude towards Stephannie. “I cannot tell you how grateful I am.”
