Yesterday, May 6th, marked one year since the official coronation ceremony of King Charles III as the Head of State of the United Kingdom. And for this reason, throughout London, ceremonial weapons have been placed as a sign of celebration due to the first anniversary of the ascension to the throne of the son of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla were crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6th, 2023, in a dazzling spectacle that echoed medieval times.
For that reason, this May day has been celebrated as the first year of this important act, which marked the beginning of a new era for United Kingdom history after 70 years of Queen Elizabeth‘s reign.
To celebrate this day, six large horse-drawn guns were fired in a 41-shot salute in Green Park, next to Buckingham Palace, at midday. Also, an hour later, three guns fired a 62-shot salvo from Tower Wharf, along the River Thames.
