King Charles III will have to use vegetable shortening to fit the ring that will be placed on the day of his coronation, as the new monarch of the United Kingdom suffers from a rare condition that makes his skin stiff enough to easily fit a ring.

The official coronation of Charles III is closer than ever, it will be on May 6th when he will be officially proclaimed as the new monarch of the United Kingdom. And so, many details of this important event have been revealed.

The monarch suffers from a rare disease called dactylitis and it was he himself who in 2012 jokingly called his fingers “sausage fingers” during a tour of Australia, after a long flight, as they became massively swollen due to his condition.

Edema is a condition in which the body starts to retain fluid in the limbs, usually in the legs and ankles, but also in the fingers, causing them to swell“, Dr. Gareth Nye told the UK’s Daily Star newspaper.

For this reason, it has been revealed that the King’s team will have a cup of butter next to him, in case his fingers become swollen during his coronation and the placing of the “sovereign’s ring“.

King Charles III will be given the “sovereign’s ring”, which symbolizes the union of the king with the people. However, those in charge of the event are worried that the monarch will wake up that day with very swollen fingers.
