King Charles III is ready to face some of the major challenges in his monarchy during 2026. The Monarch of the United Kingdom’s reign has been tainted several times by Prince Harry and other royal figures, like Prince Andrew, with their scandals. However, the King’s biggest challenge will become his US visit, according to royal editors.
On January 3, Richard Kay, editor at large at the Daily Mail, shared his thoughts on the matter: The editor believes that Prince Harry’s presence in the country will become the highlight of his visit, whether he visits him or not.

“Setting foot on American soil will inevitably raise questions about whether he will see his wayward son, Prince Harry, and his children, whom he has met only once before. He last saw his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, during the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.”
King Charles III’s visit marks the first by a British monarch to the U.S. since the late Queen Elizabeth II accepted an invitation from George W. Bush in 2007. In light of the recent events, a PR source also reflected on the topic by saying:
“Extending an invitation to meet his father will almost certainly be a media event. But so too will any failure to invite him. It will be a story if Harry is there, and it will be a story if he isn’t. It’s quite a dilemma.”
