It has been revealed by those present at the outdoor exhibition event in St. Helier that King Charles III and Queen Camilla were evacuated from the venue as a precaution due to a security issue around the facility where they were staying.
The event was suddenly interrupted, and the monarchs were taken to a nearby hotel during their visit to the Channel Islands. It was later reported that it was due to a ‘small issue of concern‘ and only precautionary measures were being followed, but upon investigation it was revealed it was a ‘false alarm‘.
Matt Taylor, founder of Jersey Sea Salt, revealed that he was having a conversation with the king: “He stopped at the stall and said ‘Ooh sea salt’ and I said ‘Come and have a chat, Sir’“, but suddenly his majesty was told to leave; “Then his security appeared and grabbed me and said ‘He has to go, now’“.
Taylor also confirmed, “He didn’t seem panicked but he was quite stern. They just ushered him out. It’s a shame as he’d stopped to chat to us of his own accord“, letting it be known that the king’s security team handled everything perfectly and did not raise unnecessary suspicions to those present.
Queen Camilla was at another side of the venue with Eamon Fenlon, managing director of Jersey Dairy, who said, “I had just given the Queen an ice cream and I turned back to get one myself before we had a chat“, and then revealed, “But when I turned back around, she had been whisked off. Some of the other people told me it was a drone but whether that’s official or not I don’t know“.
