ILLIT drops Mamihlapinatapai, a letter to self-love and fun

The group says Mamihlapinatapai shows a bolder and more honest side of their music.

ILLIT just shared a clear message of confidence and self-love with the release of their fourth mini-album, Mamihlapinatapai. The project was released on April 30, 2026. Through Belift Lab, the members said they were excited for fans to hear the new EP and understand the emotions behind it. The mini-album focuses on honest feelings, bold expression, and the unpredictable charm that the five members bring as a group. It also gives ILLIT a chance to show a more direct side of their music, rooted mostly in dance-pop and electronic genres.

Member Minju said the EP shows many sides of  ILLIT and admitted that she felt nervous and excited before revealing the music. The main track, It’s Me, became a major point of discussion among the members because of its bombastic rhythm and direct lyrics. Member Younah said they started moving their heads to the beat from the beginning, which shows how quickly they reacted to the song’s big energy. The reaction also suggests that the track was made to feel lively from the first seconds.

Moka said she enjoyed how outspoken the lyrics were, while Wonhee said the track helped expand ILLIT’s musical catalog because it feels powerful and bold.
