Beyonce defends herself after being accused of plagiarism and arrogance

Recently, Fred and Richard Fairbrass, members of the duet Right Said Fred, accused singer BeyoncĂ© of plagiarizing part of their song ‘I’m Too Sexy’, released in 1992, for her latest song ‘Alien Superstar’.

In an interview for the news portal ‘The Sun’, the famous British group branded the celebrity as “arrogant” for not having contacted them to use part of their single, as other artists have done.

“Normally the artist approaches us, but BeyoncĂ© didn’t because she’s such an arrogant person that she probably had thought ‘come and get me,’ so we found out after the fact when you did. But everyone else, Drake and Taylor Swift, came to us,” he exuded.

He also detailed that there was a payment involved and that the writers of the song have “co-writer credit” on his song.

“Not only was permission granted for their use, but they spoke publicly of their gratitude for being on the album.

For their song, there was no use of sound recording, only songwriting was used,” the singer maintained through a publication on the platform ‘Pitchfork’.

She also detailed that there was a payment involved and that the song’s writers have “co-writer credit” on her

“Permission was sought from their publisher on May 11, 2022 and the publisher approved the use on June 15, 2022. They were paid for the use in August 2022.

In addition, the Right Said Fred writers’ royalty percentage with respect to the use of ‘I’m Too Sexy’ is a substantial part of the composition. Collectively, Right Said Fred’s writers own more than any other singular writer and have co-writer credit,” he noted.

This is not the first time a track from BeyoncĂ©’s new album has been embroiled in controversy, as artist Kelis recently claimed that the singer had plagiarized part of her 2003 track, ‘Milkshake’, for her single
