Ryan Gosling has given his sincere opinion in a recent interview with GQ magazine about criticism he received on social media when the ‘#notmyken’ hashtag gained strength for apparently being too ‘old’ to be Ken in the upcoming Warner Bros. film ‘Barbie‘ live action.
“I would say, you know, if people don’t want to play with my Ken, there are many other Kens to play with“, Gosling said a bit amused.
“It is funny“, he continued, “this kind of idea of #notmyken. Like you ever thought about Ken before this?“, he added.
“And everyone was fine with that, for him to have a job that is nothing. But suddenly, it’s like, ‘No, we’ve cared about Ken this whole time.’ No, you didn’t. You never did. You never cared. Barbie never fucked with Ken. That’s the point. If you ever really cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken. So your hypocrisy is exposed. This is why his story must be told“, finished the actor.

In fact, Gosling was revealed to be the “dream Ken” for Barbie interpreter Margot Robbie, who is also a producer on the film. Also, when he was first offered the role, he turned it down due to scheduling issues, however, after filming was postponed due to the pandemic, the actor was able to join.
