Unauthorized copies of BTS’ single “Swim” have reportedly appeared for sale on the Chinese online marketplace Temu, sparking concerns about the protection of the group’s intellectual property. Professor Seo Kyoung-duk of Sungshin Women’s University said on September 15, 2026, that he confirmed the listings after receiving reports from BTS fans and shared a screenshot of one of the advertisements.
“BTS’ ‘Swim’ single is only sold through official distributors such as the Weverse Shop,” Seo affirmed. “Even though the marketplace only provides the platform, it is wrong to allow illegal products to be offered for sale.”
The educator also pointed to similar cases involving BTS merchandise earlier this year. In March, 2026, unauthorized products appeared on major Chinese online marketplaces following the group’s comeback concert in Gwanghwamun. According to Seo, platforms including Taobao and AliExpress have also advertised merchandise featuring the ARIRANG logo without authorization, including T-shirts and accessories. He called for an end to the practice of profiting from unauthorized use of BTS’ music and branding. “It must stop,” the professor concluded while shedding light on the issue.
