IU is back with new music, and her latest songs have quickly taken over the biggest charts in South Korea. Released on September 10, 2026, the digital single featuring “Unknown Planet” and “Dear my crazy soulmate” reached the summit of several real-time rankings shortly after its release. “Unknown Planet” debuted at #1 on Melon HOT100, Genie TOP200, and Bugs, while the second track, “Dear my crazy soulmate,” peaked at #2 on Melon and Bugs and #3 on Genie.

The freshly released tracks have also captured the attention of international audiences. For instance, “Unknown Planet” entered music charts in 16 regions and reached #1 on the iTunes Top Songs charts in Singapore and Taiwan. “Dear my crazy soulmate” appeared in nine regions, including Sri Lanka, where it also topped the chart. Both tracks serve as pre-release songs for IU’s upcoming sixth full-length album, with the artist writing the lyrics herself. The music video for “Dear my crazy soulmate” features veteran actresses Kim Young Ok and Na Moon Hee alongside Shim Dal Gi and Esom.
Meanwhile, the music video for “Unknown Planet” is scheduled to arrive at midnight on September 16. IU had previously postponed her September concert and album release after her chronic patulous Eustachian tube condition worsened. Her recent breakup with actor Lee Jong Suk has also drawn attention and is believed to be another reason for the schedule changes in her musical promotions.
