Prince Louis reached a new royal milestone after attending the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with his family. The 8-year-old joined Prince William, Princess Kate Middleton, Prince George and Princess Charlotte for their royal outing. This marked Louis’ first public sporting event with his family and the first public appearance in Scotland for all three children. The Games bring together athletes from Commonwealth nations every four years.

During the visit, the family watched events including track cycling and netball. They also met athletes, volunteers and Finnie, the unicorn mascot that represents Scotland’s national animal. Louis shared a high five with the mascot. The family of five also met gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper, who represent Team Wales and won bronze medals at the competition earlier this week. According to the Telegraph, Prince William said that Charlotte loved gymnastics and ballet, while Princes Kate Middleton shared that Prince Louis was perfecting his handstand. To this, he responded, “A bit, but Charlotte says I’m not very good.”
His attendance was notable because he did not join the family at Wimbledon earlier in the summer, even though George and Charlotte had attended the tennis tournament when they were his age. Prince Louis is popular for his playful reactions and funny antics during royal events. In previous appearances, he has covered his ears, made faces to his parents, and joked with other members of the family. Even with an energetic personality, Prince William has described his son as a good boy “who likes to wind his brother and sister up.”
