King Charles and other members of the royal family are often thought of as people with elegant dinners and formal banquets, but their daily eating habits are sometimes much simpler than people expect. King Charles is known for skipping lunch regularly, while other royals have their own unusual food preferences. Still, there are several rules guests are expected to follow when dining with the monarch, especially during official events and royal meetings.

Former royal butler Julius Smith recently explained one important dining rule in an interview with the Daily Mail. According to Smith, guests should never take the last biscuit without first offering it to others at the table. Then, he warned visitors against taking photos of the food, saying guests should simply enjoy eating the meal.

“The worst thing you can do is take the last biscuit without offering – and take pictures of the food,” he said.

In addition, sustainability is a top priority for King Charles. According to Queen Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, leftovers from royal meals are rarely wasted and are usually reused in future dishes. According to him, whatever is not eaten during dinner will later be made into a different meal or appear the next day

“There is no waste, everything is recycled, everything is used from the table. If anything is leftover from the dinner, that will be made into something else or appear the next day. Nothing’s allowed to be thrown out, he revealed.”
