Ariana Grande prepares a new album after Eternal Sunshine and Wicked
Ariana Grande has announced her eighth studio album, Petal, which will be released on July 31 through Republic Records and BabyDoll Music. The album was executive-produced and co-written by Ariana and Ilya Salmanzadeh, a Swedish-Persian producer who has worked with Max Martin, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, and on several of Ariana Grande’s recent projects. In addition, producer Jermaine Dupri has been seen interacting with the singer’s social media posts, suggesting a R&B direction for the tracks. However, his participation in the album has not yet been confirmed.

Petal shows Ariana Grande entering a new creative chapter
In the announcement, the hitmaker described the album as “something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.” This description suggests that Petal’s main themes could be growth, healing, and change. Fans have been anticipating an announcement for the past two weeks, especially due to the different easter eggs and studio photos that the “7 Rings” singer has posted ahead of the actual album campaign.
The album arrives after a very active period in Ariana Grande’s career. She spent around three years working on Wicked, its sequel, Eternal Sunshine, and the 2025 deluxe edition of that album. Although her tour was first connected to Eternal Sunshine, Petal will likely be incorporated into the shows after its release. The “No Tears Left To Cry” vocalist has also said the tour could be her last one for a long time, which makes this release even more important for her fans.
“I don’t want to say anything definitive. I do know that I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long, long time. I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful. I think that’s why I’m doing it because I’m like, ‘One last hurrah!’”
