Also, the project is being produced by Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, George R. R. Martin, and Vince Gerardis.

Garland is said to be a longtime gamer, according to Deadline, and a major fan of Elden Ring. Reports state he personally pitched the film idea to the video game’s publishers Bandai Namco and FromSoftware. The original game was released in February 2022 and quickly became one of the most-celebrated games of its generation. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and based on a story written by George R. R. Martin, the video game introduced players to a dark fantasy world filled with wide landscapes, dungeons, and difficult battles. The game itself is based on a story written by George R. R. Martin, author of Song of Ice and Fire. This work later became an inspiration for HBO’s Game of Thrones.
