Netflix has reportedly modified several scenes from Stranger Things: The First Shadow stage play after the release of Season 5. It first opened in London’s West End in December 2023 and later arrived on Broadway in April 2024. It serves as a prequel to the main series and explores Henry Creel’s life before he became Vecna. Following the Season 5 premiere, attendees noticed that recent performances included changes to parts of the script to better align with the final season of the show.

According to reports shared on X, the updates focused mainly on scenes involving the cave and events in Nevada. Season 5 revealed through flashbacks that Henry Creel killed a Russian scientist and was sent to the Abyss after interacting with a mysterious artifact the scientist carried. In addition, Henry’s age was also revised, stating that he disappeared into the Abyss at 11 years old instead of 8, which had been referenced earlier.

The production prepares for its official Netflix recording

The changes come as Netflix prepares to premiere a recorded version of the stage play. Collider confirmed that filming took place from February 10, 2026, to February 14, 2026, and public performances were cancelled during those dates to shoot the streaming version. In addition, the series’s actor Jamie Campbell Bower returned for a special appearance in February 2026, reprising after previously appearing in December 2025 to promote Season 5.
