The play focuses on the early life of Henry Creel Jr., a teenager in Hawkins, Indiana, who later becomes the villain known as Vecna in the main series. The story shows how his powers begin to grow and how he is controlled by a multidimensional force. At the same time, younger versions of Jim Hopper and Joyce take part in the investigation, while Dr. Martin Brenner from Hawkins National Laboratory studies Henry’s supernatural abilities. The play also links Henry’s past to his father’s military service during World War II.

The production was written by Kate Trefry, with a story created together with Matt and Ross Duffer and playwright Jack Thorne. It was directed by Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin. The show first opened in London’s West End in 2023 and later moved to Broadway. The Broadway adaptation has won several Tony Awards for design and sound, as well as a special award for visual effects. However, no official streaming release date has been announced yet, but it is expected to be released soon as part of the Stranger Things-adjacent projects following the conclusion of the main series.
