Thanks to the publication of a video on social networks, it could be seen that King Charles III continues with a tradition of more than 800 years old, demonstrating his commitment and institutional responsibility for the welfare of animal conservation.

In addition to holding the title of ‘king’, the son of Queen Elizabeth II also has the name of ‘Lord of the Swans‘, therefore is legitimately the owner of all the swans of the River Thames and its surroundings, even if they are wild or are not ‘marked’ by the British monarchy; it has been so since the twelfth century.

Traditionally, every year for over 800 years, a ceremony is held to count and mark all the swans in the lake, and then they are released. King Charles III intentionally continued with the tradition and shared what was experienced during the event in his official account of the social network ‘X’.

🦢 The annual Swan Upping on the River Thames concluded today.

🚣 The week-long flotilla of traditional Thames rowing boats (called ‘Skiffs’) record the census and health of the swan population over a 130km route.

All this has an interesting purpose and is to successfully ensure the life of these species, thus avoiding their extinction or hunting. Charles has always shown to have a noble heart and has been characterized by his genuine intention to preserve the fauna and flora of the planet over the years.
