Undoubtedly when you are a public figure, you have to be very careful with everything you say, do or share since being so famous someone could be recording and could seriously affect your career. We have seen that several times with some celebrities and of course our K-pop idols are not spared as they have also been receiving massive hate especially a member of SEVENTEEN.

SEVENTEEN’s DK receives massive hate on social media for using an offensive Chinese word

On January 21, Seventeen launched their FOLLOW World Tour with a performance at Macau’s Olympic Sports Center Stadium in China. At some point during the same event, the idol was heard calling himself by the Chinese term DAKE, which means “empty shell.” It’s said that the word is frequently used to denote incompetence. The idol’s following, Cuties’ Gathering, allegedly criticized the group’s Chinese members, Jun and The8, since they didn’t know the meaning of the phrase. Jun and The8 fans were understandably incensed when it was revealed on Many Cuties’ Gathering that the members ought to have alerted him to the inappropriate word.

On the other hand, let’s remember that the singer is doing very well in the industry, On September 19, Swiss luxury fashion house Bally announced SEVENTEEN’s DK as its new global ambassador.

Bally CEO Nicolas Girotto shared, “We are delighted to have the versatile DK from the iconic group SEVENTEEN as our new global brand ambassador. His modern style and warm personality go perfectly with Bally’s core values.”

Do you think people will soon forget about the little problem the idol is experiencing? What are your thoughts on this? Do you think he should have been like this and attacked on social media?
