Anime streaming platform, Crunchyroll, is in the eye of the Internet and the LAW for all the wrong reasons. Apparently, the anime platform was slammed with a huge collective lawsuit. Wonder why? Crunchyroll had been apparently sharing and selling users’ private information to other big names, and by big we mean third parties (according to that court tea).
All this drama first started in September last year, and it has been on hold ever since. But wait no more, because the beans have finally been spilled. Crunchyroll and the peeps who filed the lawsuit have finally agreed to settle things. Now, get this: some Crunchyroll users will get to have some cash as compensation for this privacy mess.
So get all eyes, you might be one of the lucky ones: after discussing at courtoom in Illinois, United States, Crunchyroll, is gonna be dropping 30 dollars to users who basically watched anime in the platform between September 2020 and September 2023. But wait, you should have signed-up to the site and streamed on the app. No watching for free!
Hold up, there’s one more thing before you get to excited thinking about those coins! it looks like this compensantion deal is only for folks who streamed Crunchyroll in the United States during the time period we just mentioned. Unlucky for peeps living outside the States, but at least their privacy wasn’t violated!
If you took notes and check all of the requirements, then feel free to fill out a form and send it court to get that cash! But don’t get too lazy, they’ll only take your files until December 12.Â
Keep your eye out, you might get that Crunchy-cash!
