Actor Will Smith has been one of the most recognized actors of all times, and this is because he is remembered for his participation in important roles such as “Men in Black” or “I am Legend“; however, the movie producer has also rejected important jobs with which many would believe that his popularity and that of those movies would be a total success if he had been the star.
It has been revealed that this actor turned down the role of “Neo” in the movie “Matrix“, and changed this valuable role in order to play a role that to this day has been considered a total failure.
Although at the time the actor did not know that this movie was going to be a resounding success, today Will Smith must be stressing to himself every moment that he should not have turned down such a considerable role.
The actor considered it pertinent at the time to star in another type of film as he did for “Wild Wild West“, which was released in the same year as the film directed by the Wachowski sisters, and although it was not a film that went unnoticed by the public, it is clear that when compared to the box office of “Matrix”, it was simply a failure in Hollywood.
In addition to this, from the moment of its release the film was very negatively marked and it is because of these criticisms that it is now being remembered.
However, Will Smith has referred a few times to these comments and besides revealing that he is grateful, since that movie (Wild Wild West) personally impacted his life, he also revealed that although he did not make the right decision in turning down the role of Neo, ‘Matrix’, might have “ruined the movie“.
