Only one rapper appears on the list of highest paid artists of the genre, released by journalist Zack O’Mailey, ex-Forbes. Jay-Z and Kanye West topped the ranking shared by Vibe and were the hip hop artists who earned the most in 2021.
Mr. Carter earned around $470 million, while the “Donda” owner made $50 million. In third place is Diddy with $75 million, ahead of Drake, who made $50 million. The list continues without female rap representatives until the tenth position, when Doja Cat appears with her $ 25 million raised last year.
“Doja Cat has had the best of her career on the strength of a thriving international presence and partnerships with brands like Pepsi and CandyCrush. Planet Her, released in June, moved 1.5 million album-equivalent units in the US, the sixth-highest number of any artist in any genre, and racked up a staggering 1.85 billion on-demand audio rotations” wrote Zack O. ‘Mailey.
