Lorde had to change some tour dates for his “The Solar Power Tour”. The dates in North America and Europe remain unchanged, but the change happened right away in the singer’s own country, New Zealand, as well as Australia. The reason? The covid-19 pandemic, which has worsened again in countries.

What caught our attention is that the dates have moved to 2023. Fans were impressed with the change, because it is more than a year waiting. In return, some extra shows were added to the list.

“I’m devastated about postponing the shows. Starting the tour in NZ was very important to me and it would be awesome. The truth is that touring a COVID pandemic brings a lot of unforeseen events, I’d rather wait and play for you guys at a quieter time.”, declared Lord.

Covid-19‘s situation in New Zealand has once again become critical. If a short time ago the country had 0 daily cases, the graph rose and reached a peak of 204 new cases. For a country that has always had the pandemic under control, this is alarming and new measures are being taken. In Australia, the situation is very similar. Hence the postponement of the tour.

In other releated news, in an interview with Interview Magazine in November 2020, Lorde spoke about the situation in his country that has gone 100 days without cases, only with very isolated situations.

“This is probably unrealistic, but I feel more is being done here. I feel our government is more proactive in recognizing that we live in a rapidly changing climate and that legislation must reflect this.

People care in New Zealand. You can’t help but worry when you live there. It’s in every part of who we are and how we live. It’s the only thing that matters.

There’s nothing less cool than not caring about the environment in New Zealand, which I love” she said.

“We spent 100 solid days without COVID. It was a good race”, she pointed out.
