When Nintendo realized that the Super Mario Bros movie would be a success, they understood that people wanted to see more adventures of their favorite characters, those characters that were the protagonists of their favorite video games and that now they can come to the big screen.

Super Mario Bros: The Movie became a big screen hit, racking up millions of views and dollars and positioning it as the 2nd highest grossing movie of 2023, second only to the iconic Barbie movie. Now, with these numbers, Nintendo will bring the story of Link, the Zelda protagonist, to the big screen.

After the success of Mario Bros, Nintendo has confirmed that it is now working on the production of a movie of another of its stars, none other than Link, who we see in the Zelda games.

The film will feature Shigeru Miyamoto, who is a representative director and member of Nintendo, and Avi Arad, who is the president of Arad Productions. Wes Ball, known for his “Maze Runner” work, will be the director. It will be a work that will go hand in hand between Nintendo and Sony.

“By producing visual content from Nintendo’s intellectual property itself, Nintendo is creating new opportunities for people around the world to access the world of entertainment that Nintendo has built, through different mediums in addition to its dedicated game consoles.”

What is happening now with the film industry is something completely striking, as we are seeing the story of characters such as video games or even dolls of brands that were not dedicated to cinema, but now, there is a new trend to see in film the characters that accompanied us during our childhood.

What do you think about it? Will you see the new movie? Do you think it will set a trend and break records like Super Mario Bros: The Movie did? Will it be a good idea for Nintendo to get into the movie business?
