So far what is known is that the interventions have gone well and that they only need rest. On the side of the princess, it is known that her nanny has been a great help for her care, as well as the closeness she will now have with her family to feel better as the days go by.
The King will undergo surgery for an enlarged prostate, Buckingham Palace said in a statement two hours after Kensington Palace revealed that Princess Kate is “scheduled to have abdominal surgery” on Jan. 17. The King’s announcement encouraged other men to go to their doctors. The benign condition will be corrected this week, so her public appearances will be temporarily canceled.
Charles made his announcement before his scheduled operation, while news of Kate’s health was not released until after her surgery.
“It was wise to be more open about it, otherwise people might have thought the worst,” an inside palace source tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week’s issue.
While King Charles went public with his illness, Princess Kate, 42, made the decision to keep it private. According to her office, she expressed her “desire to maintain as much normalcy as possible” for her young children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
