Walt Disney’s CEO was knighted by Prince William in a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Monday. This honor marks yet another nod to UK-US diplomatic relations and it’s one of Queen Elizabeth II’s final knighthoods before her passing in September 2022. The event celebrated Bob Iger’s efforts in fostering the ties between both countries.

The CEO was given the honorary title Knight of the Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.). He shared his gratitude on social media, saying:
“It is one of the great honors of my life to have the honorary Knight of the British Empire conferred on me by Queen Elizabeth II before she passed. I have great affection for the people of the UK & have always appreciated and been inspired by their extraordinary contributions.”
This acknowledgment comes after Prince Harry met the Disney boss and tried to get his wife, Meghan Markle, a job with him. It all went down in 2019 during the premiere of The Lion King, where Prince Harry was overhead telling the CEO that Meghan Markle did voiceovers and that “she’s really interested.” Iger responded with “Sure, we’d love to try,” but so far there haven’t been any collaborations between Walt Disney and the Dutchess of Sussex.
