TWICE‘s label, JYP Entertainment, isn’t playing around when it comes to protecting TWICE. After discovering the existence of deepfake videos featuring members of the K-pop group, the agency dropped a powerful statement condemning the illegal content. They will pursue the strongest legal action possible against those creating and sharing this content.

TWICE's label takes strong legal action against deepfake videos

On August 30, the agency posted the firm on TWICE’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, expressing their outrage and determination to combat this violation.

“Hello, this is JYP Entertainment.

We are gravely concerned about the recent spread of deepfake (AI-generated) videos involving our artists.

This is a blatant violation of the law, and we are in the process of collecting all relevant evidence to pursue the strongest legal action with a leading law firm, without leniency.

We want to make it clear that we will not stand by while our artists’ rights are violated and will take decisive action to address this matter to the fullest extent possible.

Thank you.”

This move comes after several digital crime cases in South Korea this week. It has been discovered that male users of Telegram have been utilizing deepfake technology to fabricate explicit content with the help of AI. This issue has affected regular female citizens and idols from the Entertainment industry in South Korea.

This case has provoked an uproar in the country, with people prompting authorities to move quickly and find a solution. As of now, this digital crime is being investigated and penalties for people who produce or share this content have been increased.
