Apple just scored its biggest theatrical win ever as F1: The Movie blazed past the competition with a speedy $55.6 million debut in North America. Featuring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, the movie mixes real Formula 1 race footage with a fictional story, and fans showed up. The global numbers were just as impressive, raking in $88.4 million from 78 markets worldwide. Meanwhile, Universal’s live-action How to Train Your Dragon still soared high, pulling in $19.4 million and continuing its success since Father’s Day weekend.

Let’s break down the top 5, with films from June 27 to June 29

#05. 28 Years Later – $9.7M
Danny Boyle’s return to the apocalyptic horror saga had a solid showing with a $9.7 million weekend, pushing its total gross to $50.3 million. Fans of the original were clearly curious to see what the franchise had cooked up nearly three decades later, and new viewers were locked in to see this zombie film.

#04. M3GAN 2.0 – $10.2M (Debut)
The AI doll is back and creepier than ever. M3GAN 2.0 debuted with $10.2 million, proving there’s still plenty of battery left in this sassy doll. This second installment pulled a good chunk of the audience, but not enough to break the top three.

#03. Elio – $10.7M
Pixar’s latest animated film made it to the top five, but just barely. Opening with $10.7 million, Elio now holds the record for Pixar’s weakest opening in recent memory despite its cosmic concept and relatable theme.

#02. How to Train Your Dragon – $19.4M (Total: $200M)
This live-action adaptation is proving it can fly high. Holding strong in its second weekend, the film brought in another $19.4 million, officially crossing the $200 million mark domestically. Family audiences are clearly helping Toothless spread his wings.

#01. F1: The Movie – $55.6M (Debut)
Apple’s film paid off big time. With top-tier performances, real racing footage, and Brad Pitt charisma, F1 dominated the weekend. It’s now Apple’s biggest theatrical debut to date, and likely just the start of their box office momentum? Let’s wait and see!
