Recently Mexico had the visit of Bad Bunny for the closing of his tour which was involved in scandal, as thousands of fans could not enter the venue because of fake tickets. Ticketmaster may have scammed thousands of fans with fake tickets and KPOP concerts could be affected

Ricardo Sheffield, the head of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) revealed in an interview with Radio Fórmula that Ticketmaster will have to pay a fine, the amount of which will be determined in the next few hours.

“The more opposition Ticketmaster presents, as they say in my town, the more it coughs it up, the larger the fine that will be imposed at the close of this issue,” he commented.

It is known that Profeco has already identified at least 1,600 tickets that presented a failure, while another 110 from the second date offered by the singer in Mexico City, “We believe that there may be up to 200 more that have not realized that they are entitled to receive a refund and the number for Saturday is exact because we were at the door all day until the access was finished,” he explained.

Ticketmaster

The holder said that after demanding a report to the box office about what happened at the closing of Bad Bunny’s ‘Hottest World Tour’, the company must reimburse the total of the tickets that of course, have been legitimate, in addition to a compensation of not less than 20% paid.

He pointed out that in case of refusal, the fine could be up to 10% of last year’s sales, “If you have the coadjuvance of the supplier and he says ‘look I am totally willing to fix it, I comply 100 percent of the law’, well, the fine will be as small as possible.

But on the other hand, if they generate a problem for us, as it has been in the past, the fine will be bigger,” he said

Regarding the version given by Ticketmaster in a press release, Sheffield said, “It is not possible to detect which (ticket) is false, if they are issued by Ticketmaster, how can they be false? They are duplicates. In reality the ticket passed, but it did not identify a precise place, that’s why we ask for an explanation, the responsibility is Ticketmaster’s”.

Ticketmaster

For its part, Ticketmaster assures that there was no oversale of tickets and on December 12 announced that it will reimburse the total cost, as stated by Profeco,

“”On Friday an unprecedented number of fake tickets bya Ticketmaster, purchased outside our official channels, were presented at the accesses to the venue. This situation, in addition to confusing the access control personnel, generated temporary intermittency in the legitimate ticketmaster system. It is important to emphasize that there was no overbooking or oversale of tickets,” he explained.
