The Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles were received as a “gift” from the late Queen Elizabeth II on their wedding day in 2018. The title implies to maintain their private patronage to organizations and social projects up to the moment of their resignation.
The title granted by the Queen through marriage can only be stripped by someone of the same rank, the now-king, Charles III would be the only one who could strip their titles. So what would they be called? Ingrid Seward, a royal expert shared her thoughts during a convo with Mirror UK.
“In the hypothetical case that the king stripped his son and daughter-in-law of their titles as dukes, nothing would happen. Both would have a different title: Harry would simply be known as “Prince Harry,” while Meghan Markle would be known as his wife, “Princess Harry.”
