I’m a pragmatic person so this is my insight. Every marriage has its ups and downs, even those of royalty as they are human too. So, many marriages face problems including infidelity. For most of us, we decide on reconciliation or separation. However, when it is the royal family, it’s a bit more complicated due to fiscal, political, and publicity issues. In many ways, the British Royals are in a precarious position now that Queen Elizabeth II and Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh have passed away. People still haven’t forgotten the Diana debacle, the treatment of Megan Markle, Charles’s infidelity, the allegations that Charles is something of a nutter, the treatment of Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew’s association with a pedophile, etc. Prince William and Princess Kate have worked very hard to redeem the royal family in the midst of all this scandal and have, for the most part, succeeded until now. With William’s infidelity, all that hard work has been jeopardized. Then, there are their children to be considered. My personal opinion is that William and Kate need to come to an Arrangement (Which, historically, was quite common. Look at FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt, for example.) The Arrangement would allow their teamwork (and they make a good team) to continue, provide a continued stable environment for the children, prevent more “dirty laundry” being aired, prevent Kate and the children from being fiscally penalized, and so on while leaving both of them to discreetly pursue satisfying emotional relationships. I’m not a proponent of double standards so I think if William is having affairs that Kate should be able to as well. As to discretion or being public about their lovers, well, that’s up to then to figure out.
