This is the reason why BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary celebration faced fan backlash

All four members reunited in Seoul, but limited access and a late announcement caused frustration among fans

BLACKPINK celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut on August 8, 2026, with all four members reuniting for a small fan event and a Weverse livestream. However, the celebration also sparked criticism from fans who were disappointed with the way the celebratory activities were carried out. YG Entertainment announced the event only two days earlier and initially said that just 40 fans who previously paid memberships on Weverse would be selected to attend an event somewhere in Seoul.

The announcement also did not guarantee that all four BLACKPINK members would be present at the event, saying attendance would depend on their schedules. In addition, fans were given only nine hours to apply. In the end, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa all attended the Meet and Greet at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul. However, many fans felt that allowing only 40 people to participate was too limited for an important 10th-year anniversary milestone.

Following fan controversy, Jisoo later apologized through the group’s fan community and during a livestream. She explained that she had hoped to meet more fans and suggested there had been a communication problem surrounding the event.

“This anniversary feels like a day full of regret,” she revealed. “Knowing how many BLINKs are upset weighs heavily on me. I haven’t forgotten that it’s BLINKs who made Blackpink shine like this. I’m sorry again for the disappointment I’ve caused, and I’m always grateful and love you.”

Notably, Jisoo was the only BLACKPINK member who apologized after the negative reception surrounding their anniversary event. Some fans even commented on how different her approach to fans’ frustration was compared to the rest of the bandmates. Meanwhile, Jennie simply shared a photo from the quartet’s early days, thanking fans. Similarly, Rosé thanked BLINKs, saying, “From my debut at 19 to today, at 29.” Finally, Lisa wrote, “Thank you truly, and I love you, for always being with us through these 10 long years.”
