This is how Rihanna inspires BLACKPINK’s Jennie

The BLACKPINK member admires Rihanna’s influence across music, fashion, business and art

BLACKPINK’s Jennie has named Rihanna as one of the most important examples she follows in music and popular culture! In a Cosmopolitan cover story published on August 3, 2026, the “Mantra” hitmaker said she admires the wide influence Rihanna has built through music, fashion, business, and art. She explained that reaching a similar level of cultural impact would be a dream for her own career.

“Rihanna will always be my biggest dream in terms of how much influence she has over pop culture and also music culture and art itself,” the BLACKPINK member shared. “She’s so inspiring for me,” Jennie continued. “To find that for myself would be a dream.”

But Rihanna was not the only female artist she praised. In the same interview, she talked about three other women in music she admires. For example, in a related “Blind Date” video on the magazine’s YouTube channel, Jennie talked about Doechii, who worked with her on the song “ExtraL,” highlighting the rapper’s creativity. She also complimented Gracie Abrams, another Chanel ambassador. She also shared her excitement about Rosalía and said she would happily attend one of her concerts as a joyful fan in the front row.

“I can’t wait to go watch her Lux Tour, seems amazing,” the South Korean star said about Rosalía.

Jennie recently released the solo single “Less Than a Lover” on July 24, 2026. During the summer, she has been performing with BLACKPINK bandmates at major festivals, including Lollapalooza in Chicago and Governors Ball in New York City. Those appearances followed BLACKPINK’s DEADLINE World Tour in 2026. To top things off for the fans, Jennie exclusively performed songs that have not been released yet, including “Sweet Tooth,” “Fallen Angel,” “Lock It Down,” and “Heaven.”
