Princess Kate Middleton has revealed how a simple creative activity helped her manage the challenges of cancer treatment. During a visit to the Christie cancer care hospital on June 4, 2026, the Princess of Wales spoke with patients about her own experience with chemotherapy. The mother of three explained that treatment made it difficult for her to read or focus, so she found comfort in coloring instead. According to the Princess, that activity allowed her to relax without worrying about creating a finished piece of art.
"I didn't have the ability to read or do anything.
Color was my way of exploring interesting things and be able to do something that did not require an end product, just a way of playing and losing yourself"

“I don’t know about you, but I didn’t have the ability to read or really focus on anything,” she recalled while talking to one of the patients. “Color was my way of exploring interesting things and being able to do something that did not require an end product, or an end finished piece,” she shared.

Many cancer patients can experience problems with memory and concentration during chemotherapy, a condition often called chemo brain or chemo fog. Medical professionals believe several reasons could contribute to these symptoms, including the treatment itself, stress, pain, and sleep difficulties. Princess Kate Middleton revealed her cancer diagnosis to the public in January 2024 and completed chemotherapy in September 2024. In January 2025, the Princess of Wales announced that she was in remission. Since then, she has gradually returned to her public royal duties, with 2026 being one of her busiest royal years following her remission.
