This is how BTS honored their history during the 2026 FIFA World Cup halftime show

The group included meaningful details in their outfits while delivering a high-energy performance

BTS took center stage during the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final on July 19, 2026, delivering one of the most-talked-about performances of the tournament. The championship match between Spain and Argentina took place at the New York New Jersey Stadium, where a star-studded lineup with Madonna, Justin Bieber, Shakira, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, Coldplay’s PS 22 Chorus, the Muppets, and Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso brought music and festive vibes before the second half of the game. Meanwhile, BTS decided to capture the attention of fans around the world with a performance that celebrated both their music and South Korean culture.

The members wore outfits inspired by South Korea’s national soccer team, sporting black, red, and white colors throughout their section of the show. Knee-eye fans quickly noticed several meaningful “Easter eggs” hidden in the jerseys and accessories worn by the members. For example, Suga showed off the emblem of the Red Devils, the country’s official soccer supporters group. Then, Jimin and J Hope both wore the number “7” as a tribute to BTS’s seven members. In addition, Jin, V, and Suga wore silver whistle necklaces, while J-Hope attached a similar whistle to his belt. Even though their outfits followed a shared pattern, each artist still managed to show his own personal style.

Shortly after the halftime show ended, FIFA uploaded the group’s performance to YouTube, where it received more than 2.2 million views within its first four hours. Fans filled the comment section with praise, especially after BTS performed their global hit “Dynamite” as their song of choice. The track is widely recognized as one of BTS’ biggest global hits, reaching the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, the UK Singles Chart, and South Korea’s Circle Digital Chart. Following the performance, the 7-member team took a short break from their massive ARIRANG World Tour. The global run will resume on August 1, with the boyband visiting North and South America throughout August, September and October.
