Prince Harry is back in the spotlight, but not in a good way this time! The Duke of Sussex was recently given the prestigious Pat Tillman Award at the glitzy ESPY Awards in Los Angeles. He was honored with the service award, typically reserved for heroes who have served their country. But guess what? Nearly 38% of Americans think he should not have received the honor, according to a recent poll.

Not to mention, the decision to give Prince Harry the Pat Tillman Award was met with backlash from the start. Before the honor was even handed to the Duke of Sussex, over 76,000 people signed a petition to reverse it. In addition, Pat Tillman‘s mother, Mary, also voiced her disagreement, calling Harry a “controversial and divisive individual,” evidently displeased with him getting the honor.

Now, here’s the scoop: a poll of 1,500 Americans, made by agency Redfield and Wilton, revealed that 38% agreed that Prince Harry shouldn’t have been given the award. In contrast, only 21% supported the Duke of Sussex, while 41 % were undecided. The award was named after Pat Tillman, who gave up his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals to become an Army Ranger after 9/11. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan before tragically dying from friendly fire in 2004 at the age of 27.
