The film will focus on the story of a mother who is forced to take a job at a nearly bankrupt pharmaceutical company in order to raise her daughter properly, and becomes involved in a dangerous organized crime operation.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Evan Hughes and tells the true story of the Inys company, which is dedicated to producing and marketing drugs containing fentanyl, a dangerous compound that is currently causing controversy in the United States. Hughes attempts to explain the irregular ways in which the company profited from the opioid crisis.
