In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ridley Scott, the film’s director, revealed that he directed it like a real 18th century military campaign and so did his entire crew, which helped facilitate the film’s development and production.
“Everything was quite dynamic and entertaining, my team made the best military costumes very elegant and quite mind-blowing. I also had the help of a military expert for the battle sequences to do their job. Everything was coordinated, planned and executed like a real battle.
Ridley and his team planned the development as if they were generals and strategists meeting hours before a battle; this kind of dynamic definitely helped maintain the atmosphere on the sets. The film, which features a starring performance by Joaquin Phoenix, will be released on November 24.
