Gwyneth Paltrow testified last Friday for a skiing accident she suffered in Utah in 2016. She was accused of crashing into Terry Sanderson, a retired optometrist, when the two were skiing on a slope at Deer Valley Resort.
The actress was sued for $300,000 for damages. However, on the stand in the civil trial she denied the plaintiff’s version, and, during the hours of the session, she even had time to name the singer Taylor Swift.

The artist countersued the man after claiming $1 and attorney’s fees from him in 2019. As a result, Sanderson’s lawyer, Kristin VanOrman, asked the artist if she had been inspired by Taylor Swift, who in 2017 filed a counterclaim for sexual assault against former DJ David Mueller for the amount of one dollar in damages.
“You heard about that from Taylor Swift, who asked for a symbolic dollar in damages, didn’t you?” the Sanderson lawyer asked Paltrow. To which the actress replied, “I wasn’t familiar with that, but I have since become familiar with it.”

Sanderson’s rep asked the artist if they were “good friends,” something Paltrow denied, stating that they just get along “fine.” “I took my kids to one of his concerts, but we don’t talk very often,” she replied.
The lawyer went on to question her, “You’ve never given Ms. Taylor Swift personal, intimate gifts for Christmas?” referring to a video from her brand, Goop, in which Paltrow is shown preparing Christmas gifts for various celebrities, including Taylor Swift, to whom she gave a vibrator.
The judge in the case, Kent Holmberg, interrupted the questions and then closed the interrogation. The trial began on January 21 and among the witnesses who have spoken are people close to the plaintiff, such as two of his daughters, who have assured that their father’s life and personality changed abysmally since the accident.
The actress’ children, Moses and Apple, who were with their mother on the day of the accident, as well as some of the Deer Valley Resort staff, are expected to testify next week. An animated reconstruction of the events will also be reviewed.
