Okay, Swiftie fam, hold on to your wigs! Our pop queen Taylor Swift has finally dropped her own version of “1989,” after much anticipation and teasing. Now, in case you don’t know what the “Taylor’s Version” thing next to the album title means, we got you covered!

Basically, Tay-Tay ended her contract with her old label, Big Machine Records. She offered to buy her songs to the company (yes, as hard as it is to believe, artists don’t own their tracks) but that opportunity wasn’t given to her. For that reason, the “Shake it Off” hitmaker decided she was going to re-record all the albums she released under her previous label, because she wanted to own her music!

So far, “Fearless“, “Speak Now,” “Red,” and now “1989” have been re-recorded, and the world has practically surrendered to Taylor Swift’s domain. Why, you might ask? Well, our pop queen has been moving millions of copies with these newly recorded versions, which is totally an achievement, considering these albums already existed.

But T-Swift is no boring artist at all, she just won’t do the same thing twice. Even though we have heard these bops before, Taylor being the queen that she is, re-branded these projects by giving each album new content that had been stored and probably would’ve never seen the light of day.

We are talking about new album covers, fresh pictures, and, of course, the “From the Vault” tracks. These are songs that were recorded previously, but they weren’t included on the final cut of each album. Still, they are finally here, so we can start bopping our heads to them.

So, “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” was released today, Friday, October 27 (the perfect way to start the weekend), 9 years after the first version was dropped. It includes all 16 tracks from that era, along with 5 “From the Vault” songs: “Say Don’t Go,” “Now that We Don’t Talk,” “Suburban Legends,” “Is It Over Now?” and “Slut!” which was chosen as the single to promote this new classic. Also, remember “Bad Blood” featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar? We got a re-recorded version for that one, too!

Let us know if you’re vibing with this “new throwback” in the comments below, and go listen to it on your favorite platform!
