Through a new documental mini-series, Simon Cowell announces the new boy band D10, aiming to replicate One Direction‘s success, generating mixed reaction among the boy group fans on social networks.

On December 10, the British director of the music company Sony Music released a new Netflix series titled ‘Simon Cowell: The Next Act’, in which he returned to his recruiter role when documenting the formation of a new boy band.

The new musical act was named in honor of the release date, December 10, or by its acronym, D10, which immediately generates comparisons to Simon Cowell’s previous boyband, One Direction, the global sensation of 2010, sparking the debate about if it is possible to replicate that previous success with this formula.

Although the boy group was planned to have only 5 members, just like One Direction, the chemistry and connection between the seven finalists made Cowell keep them all together: Cruz, Danny, Josh, Sean, Nicolas, John, and Hendrik, all of them between 16 and 19 years old and from different parts of the world.

On social networks, fans and netizens shared criticisms about this this new musical act: “He really thinks he can do One Direction again”, “he already has the Harry of the group but they will never be 1D 😭”, “From 1D to D10”, “they will never be one direction”, “You know Simon Cowell has lost his touch when he allows them to named ‘December 10′”.
