Shakira brought a massive free concert to Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on May 2, 2026, drawing 2 million attendees, according to city officials. The show was part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry) world tour, named after her 2024 album. This concert followed other huge beach shows in the city, including Madonna’s performance in 2024 and Lady Gaga’s in 2025.

The Colombian singer began her set at around 11 p.m. local time, more than an hour later than planned. Fans cheered as drones wrote “I love you Brazil” in Portuguese above the beach. Shakira performed several of her biggest hit songs, including “Hips Don’t Lie,” “La Tortura” and “La Bicicleta.” She wrapped up the show with “BZRP Music Sessions #53,” a song inspired by her separation from Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué. The track turned into a viral sensation thanks to its sharp lyrics about Gerard Piqué’s cheating. During the concert, she also spoke about women’s strength, saying women rise wiser after every fall.
People arrived at the beach early Saturday morning to find good spots, while vendors sold snacks, drinks, and other items. City officials said the concert could generate about 777 million reais through tourism, hotels, restaurants, and local businesses. The event also showed how Rio uses major music shows to support its economy and portray the city as a cultural spot. Rio Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere celebrated the event on X, writing that “The She Wolf made history in Rio.”
