Seoul City officially approved BTS’ request to hold a large-scale comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square on Thursday, January 22, 2026. The Seoul Metropolitan Government confirmed that its advisory panel decided after reviewing a proposal submitted by BTS’ companies, HYBE and BigHit Music. The approval was granted on the condition that all safety and public order requirements are met for the show. The approval allows preparations to move forward for the event titled “BTS 2026 Comeback Show @ Seoul,” which is planned for March 21, 2026, coinciding with the boy group’s album release.

The concert will mark BTS’ first performance as a full seven-member group since their hiatus in 2022, a period during which the members focused on solo projects and completed their mandatory military services. City authorities outlined several safety conditions, including managing crowd flow, preventing overlaps between performer and audience exit times, and reducing traffic disruptions in the area. If the process is finalized, the Gwanghwamun performance would become the first concert by a KPop act to ever be held at the historic square.

BTS is scheduled to release their fifth full-length album titled “Arirang” on March 20, 2026. This will be their first new album in three years and nine months, following the anthology album “Proof” released in June 2022. To accompany the release of “Arirang,” the group will embark on a tour, which shares the same name, starting on April 9, 11, and 12, 2026. They are expected to perform 79 concerts across Asia, North America, South America, Europe, and Australia.
